Getting there


Ghent is centrally located in Flanders, Belgium and easily accessible by air, by train and by car.

By air

Belgium’s International Airport is situated in Brussels-Zaventem, only 45 minutes away from Ghent and has flights from over 80 destinations, operated by more than 140 international and regional airline companies. For Europe, low price airlines are SN Brussels and Virgin Express. Brussels-Charleroi is another Belgian Airport serving several European destinations through Ryan Air. Both airports have easy and direct train connections to Ghent (Sint-Pieters) via Brussels Midi Station.

By train

Thanks to its central location in Flanders, Belgium, and just half an hour away from Brussels Midi Station, Ghent (Sint-Pieters) is very accessible by train from all Belgian and European cities. The high speed trains, Eurostar and Thalys, take you to Ghent in only 2 hours from Paris and in about 3 hours from London, Amsterdam and Cologne.

How to get from the airport to Gent

The most convenient way to travel from Brussels airport to Gent is by train. Gent has 2 train stations the one you need is Gent Sint-Pieters.The train station is located below the terminal on level -1.The travel times are given below for trains on Wednesday and Thursday:

First train is at 5.36 a.m. The last train leaves Brussels airport at 00.26 a.m.

There are direct trains but some require you change stations at Brussels North.

By car

Ghent is centrally located at the intersection of 2 major European highways: the E-17 connecting Northern Europe with the Southern countries, and the E-40 going from the North Sea and the United Kingdom via the channel tunnel up to Eastern Europe.
